November 24th 2004

This year our club decided we would rest our woods on Monday and Tuesday each week and only hunt them five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday.  We only had four groups hunting our place this morning, so I was able to chose hole 5 again.  Joining me was Wes and David.

Wes and David shot a pair of Wood Ducks early, about 6:30 a.m.  There were a lot of Wood Ducks flying this morning and as fast as they fly through our hole, we feel we were lucky to shoot two of them.

About an hour later, we started called a lone Mallard drake.  When he turned and flew toward our hole, two Gadwall hens joined him from behind.  The two Gadwalls fell in immediately and we were able to get both of them and our hunt was over early.

We stayed until 11:00 a.m., which is our new quiting time this season.  But, we did not get to work any other ducks.  In fact, we didn't see many other ducks.

Wes Wright left us as soon as we got back to the motel.  He wanted to go back to Harrison to have Thanksgiving with his wife and family.  David and I are toughing it out and will hunt here tomorrow and cook our Thanksgiving meal here at the motel.

More later.
