Today I had the 12th draw at our place and joining the same group from yesterday was Noel Ferguson, and Greg Seale, his favorite son-in-law. My son-in-law, Brian Bishop, was supposed to be hunting with us, also. Brian had the transmission go out on his Suburban at Conway, Arkansas on the way to Dumas the day before the season opened. Brian was pulling a boat and motor for me. He made arrangements for his transmission to be repaired and caught a ride home, while my son-in-law, Doug Cox, picked the boat and motor later in the day on his way to Dumas to hunt with us. What boys will do to get their toys in place.
I chose hole 6 which was one of my favorites from previous seasons. We wound up with 8 ducks for the day, 4 greenheads and 4 Mallard hens for 7 hunters. David and I continued working with our new dogs and did not shoot much. David's dog, Cache, excelled again and my puppy, C. J. made some strides toward becoming a duck dog.
More later.
