Today I had the second pick and we chose to go back to hole 13 again. David Breedlove, Wes Wright, Mark Billings, and Emily Billings hunted with me. Thursday's hunt was wonderful with lots of ducks flying and today we did not see many ducks to call and the ones we did see were much harder to work and get into the hole.
Four Mallards came in about the middle of the morning and we killed two drakes and one hen. At about 11:15 a
group of about a dozen appeared and wanted to work. Three of them landed while the others circled. The others
finally came into the hole with gear and flaps down. The only problem for me was I did not have my gun with me. I
had gone to visit with David and left mine hanging on a tree on the other side of the blind. The other hunters killed
three drakes while I watched with envy. One drake was only crippled and got out of the hole while Taxi picked the
other two up for me. I send her across the hole and pointed her after the cripple. She chased it over 200 yards
before catching it. It made me proud of her making such a difficult retrieve.
Six ducks was the best we could do today. We came back from hunting, changed clothes and went to Stuttgart to
the Duck call Festival where we showed our Banfield's Best Duck Calls. I just got back and am firing out this
email.
More later.
