Wayne and I were the only members to show up this morning again at Winchester. We hunted together in hole 1, which is a small hole. Wayne's friend, Sam Denison hunted with us and I took C. J.
We thought the small hole might help since the ducks are call shy, hole shy, and very wary in general. It didn't work today. We saw a few ducks to call and they just did not want to commit to land in the hole. While Wayne and I stayed in the hole, Sam walked around a little bit. He had seen ducks working further north and wanted to try to find them. Obviously, he did find them, because we heard him shoot a few times and he came back with three Mallard drakes on his duck strap.
C. J. did not even get wet today.
I received an encouraging email from a friend today. He lives north of here and said that since last Sunday a major influx of ducks had arrived. If they hurry, maybe they will be here before the season ends on Sunday.
More later,
Royce
